(April 4-9, 2014)
Back in April we were so excited to get the chance to go visit Jake and Natalie and their cute kids in Canada! We have been missing them and couldn't wait to get up there and check out their new adventure!
^^Charleston is an old flying pro. Give him a stack of cups and he's set. The day we flew up there he was 14 months and it was his 14th flight. Pretty crazy!
^^ Made it to Canada!! Charlie was excited to see Ezra. Me too!
^^ Nonstop fun with these kids!
^^ Nat drove us around and we got to see lots of cool things in Montreal. This is the Biosphere.
^^ Blurry kisses. This just melts me!!!!
^^ On our way out to a cabane a sucre (sugar shack) we stopped at this cute little store that sells yummy maple snacks and potato donuts.
^^This was the coolest! So a cabane a sucre is where they make maple syrup and it's up in the mountains near the maple trees. Natalie's friend Annie was nice enough to invite us along to her uncle's sugar shack and let us in on the festivities! She also had to translate because her uncle speaks mostly French! You can kind of see him explaining the boiling process and how they turn all the maple water that comes out of the trees into maple syrup.
^^ And some pictures of the cabin. He built it all himself and it's darling.
^^ So at a certain point in the boiling process they bring out some of the syrup and pour it on the snow. It freezes and turns in to maple taffy. Soooo yummy and fun!
^^ Charlie totally loved it! Here you can see him sneaking the whole candy from me while we were trying to get a pic! Haha.
^^ I was so glad we got to be a part of that! It was so interesting! Also it was pretty cool to hear everyone speaking French.
^^ The next morning at breakfast. So fun to get to hang out with this cute fam. Just look at Ezzy.
^^ Charlie and Trav jumping at iSaute. Lovin life!
^^ Maggie giving Charlie some loves. Oh my heart!
^^ We got to celebrate Trav's birthday while we were there. Sang happy birthday in French!
^^ Gimme that remote Ez!
^^ Of course while we were there we had to get poutine! Fries covered in cheese and gravy. Canadian (French?) specialty! It was actually really good!
^^ Welcome to Montreal where there is a picture of a half naked girl on every billboard! Haha. We got to walk around the stores and the underground mall. Pretty crazy city!
^^ We were sad to have to get on a plane and leave. We wanted to stay another week!!
^^ We had a pretty long layover in Chicago, luckily they have this awesome children's museum/play area for free. We spent a few hours there getting Charlie's wiggles out before our last flight home.
^^ My arm was completely numb the whole flight but we all crashed out hard. Now we just need to go back and visit when it's warm weather!
