Charlie: Ten Months

I know I say this every time I do his monthly shots but I cannot believe Charlie is already ten months old!

Sleep: Oh sleep....we have had a bit of a regression here. He's been waking up multiple times in the night starting like two hours after we put him down. I'm just waiting it out and hoping when we go to Idaho next week it will kick start a new sleeping pattern. You know what though, in the night when I am rocking him and his little cheek is pressed into my shoulder I kind of love it. Those are the kind of moments I wish you could bottle up to remember when all your children are grown and have lives of their own. Just the other day when he woke up (much too early) I went to get him and found him standing in his crib. He pulls himself up but that was the first time I've ever seen him do that in his crib. It was really cute and I also might have shed a tear or two.

Eat: He loves pretty much all food and he eats lots of different things but he still nurses just as much as he ever has. His favorite thing is still sweet potatoes and he loves those little puffs. Those are such a lifesaver at church!

Wear: He still wears size four diapers. He is kind of all over in clothing sizes. Some 6-12 stuff still fits, mostly 12-18 and some 18-24 month stuff. It's crazy. The newest thing here is we bought him some boots! His first pair of shoes. They are super cute.

Play: Charlie is really playing these days. He loves all his toys and books and anything he can get his hands on. Bath time is really fun lately! His bathtub has sliding shower doors so there is a little ridge on the edge of the tub which is just perfect for his little hands to grab and pull himself up. Naughty boy. I have to sit him down about ten times a bath. But it's really cute too. :) For Christmas we just got him the walker you can see in a picture a few down. He isn't quite ready for the walker part but it lays on it's side and has all sorts of toys to play with and he loves it. We got it as a Christmas present but since we are going to Idaho and have very limited space we aren't going to be able to take it with us so we gave it to him a little early.

At ten months:
  • Charlie weighs about 23 pounds and is around 30 inches.
  • He is officially crawling! On thanksgiving day we were at our friends for Friendsgiving dinner and Charlie crawled across the whole kitchen floor on his knees without doing his little army crawl at all. It was so cute and also I was thinking he is much too little to be crawling! ;)
  • He loves to follow me into the kitchen and play at my feet while I do the dishes in the morning. I have to be much more diligent with my sweeping and vacuuming since he will eat anything left on the floor!
  • It was pretty tough to get any good pictures this month! He did not want to sit still and the lighting was not the greatest. As you can see, Trav had to help me to just get a few pictures!
  • His hair is starting to grow a tiny bit! His mohawk is getting kind of long and it sort of curls over. Haha. I think it's cute.
  • He loves the Lorax. If I ever need to get anything done (or get 20 more minutes of sleep) I turn it on and he is totally into it for at least 20-30 minutes. And now I know those songs by heart.
  • The cutest thing ever is when Travis gets home from work. Charlie is so happy and excited when he walks through the door. Once daddy gets home I am just chopped liver. ;)
Charlie is just the best thing that ever happened to us and we love him so much. He is really fun and has such a little personality and cute sense of humor. We are so excited to take him to Idaho for Christmas! He is going to have so much fun with all his little cousins. I am especially looking forward to meeting a new chubby little niece and

^^ I love his little growly face.

^^ Just doing his favorite trick with dad!

^^ I had to add this one in to prove to everyone that he does cry sometimes! But usually two seconds later...

^^ ...he is laughing again.

Nels and Charlie

Nels brought his mom all the way to Iowa for a little visit! It was so much fun to see these two playing together. They really like each other! There isn't much that makes me happier than seeing my sister's baby love on my baby. They were here for five days and it seriously felt like five seconds.

^^ Their flight got in late so we stayed in Des Moines and went shopping the next day. They have the best playground at the mall and Nels was in heaven!

^^ The weather was so good to us! We took a walk to the park and the boys were loving it.

^^ "Look Charlie, sticks are so yummy. Why don't you get a big handful of dirt to eat?"  ;)

^^ I think Charlie was a little excited to have someone to share his toys with, what do you think?

^^ Nels is actually giving Charlie the ball here. Melt my heart why don't you?

^^ Took a little trip to the urgent care with two sick boys. That part wasn't very fun.

^^ We took Katie to the best (only) restaurant in town, Bubba Q's. The boys were not sure about it until our food came and they could steal bites off our plates!

^^ Some of my very favorite people all on the same couch!

^^ Travis reading the boys a story.

^^ Somehow this is the only photo we took of the four of us. Fail! We need to do better at Christmas!

^^ (Charlie's sippy.)  ;)

^^ I loved getting some snuggle time in with this cutie pie. He is the sweetest boy.

^^ Nels was so sweet with Charlie. I thought he might be a little rough with him just because he's a little tough kid but he really knew Charlie is a baby and he was so soft and nice to him. Going in for the hand hold above.

I was so glad they got to come and see where we live and what our life is like here. I'm especially glad these little cuzzies got to spend some time together. Some of my favorite memories as a kid are with my cousins and I've been really sad that Charlie is missing out on that. I can't wait until we go to Idaho for Christmas and they get to spend more time together! Thanks for coming guys! We love you!!
