My very last belly photo! I know I was miserable but I didn't realize how far my belly was sticking out until it wasn't anymore. I actually really loved being pregnant but I also really loved getting him out of there!

I was set to be induced Monday morning at 8:00. We got there and got all checked in and then my nurse came in and hooked me up the IV and pitocin.

Poor Travis worked the night before so he was a little sleepy!

After 14 missssssssserable hours of having contractions and getting checked and more contractions and getting checked again, I had dilated 1 cm. So I was dilated to 2 cm at that point and my doctor recommended a c section. He had initially wanted to do one after my 39 week ultrasound when Charlie was measuring an estimated 10 lbs 8 oz but I wanted to at least try to have him naturally since we have always wanted lots of kids and multiple c-sections can get risky! So he reluctantly agreed to induce me. My body was just not responding and about 9:30 pm we agreed to go ahead with the surgery. Let me just tell you though, contracting for 12+ hours and then still ending up with a c-section is not fun! Here is a picture of Trav all suited up and ready to go!

The surgery was pretty scary for me. I didn't have an epidural yet so the anesthesiologist came in and gave me one. He was awesome and really calmed my nerves. The spinal block didn't hurt at all but it was just super scary for me. And it made me super itchy and shaky!! Then when I was all prepped they brought Trav into the OR. Only a few minutes later and our boy was here! My memory of the whole thing is a little iffy but I do remember the dr holding him up and he couldn't believe how big he was! My first thought was-he looks just like Trav! And then I guess I blacked out because the next thing I remember was waking up in recovery. Trav said they cleaned him up and brought him over to me while the dr was stitching me up and I was talking to him but I don't remember that at all! I was a little bit disappointed that I ended up with a c-section but all that matters is that we have a healthy baby!

Charlie: One month

I have pictures like this for each month and my plan was to write what's going on with Charlie when I post the monthly pictures but since these were taken three months ago I can't really remember! This blog is pretty much going to be a baby documentary from now on so if that's an issue...sorry! But not really. :)
He was clearly not happy about these pics but he's even cute when he's crying so I'm posting them anyway! Plus I'm taking a picture with the elephant every month to see how much he's grown!

Weight: 12 lbs 6 oz
Length: 22 1/2 in

Charleston Bennett

I'm just a tiny bit behind on blogging-really I've been meaning to sit down and post for about four months. Instead I've been changing diapers and kissing this chubby boy! I have a bunch of posts ready to go and will be posting them over the next couple days! I thought I would start at the beginning though.....

This is the first picture of our sweet boy! He looks a little smashed. :) I think he was glad to get out of my belly and stretch out! This feels like ten seconds ago and also ten years ago. Funny how that works.

Charleston Bennett. We can't even remember what we did without you!

Hospital stay

The next few photos were taken with my phone and they are out of order but it's SO annoying to move them around so just pretend ok?
A little splotchy after the trauma of being born!

I started feeling like a human again and thought it needed to be documented. :)

Charlie has super scratchy nails and they grow super fast! At the hospital we didn't have any mittens yet so we improvised.

The next few were his first few hours at home!

These are the very first pictures of Charlie taken with our camera. At this point I was still pretty drugged up but I just remember feeling so happy that I could finally look at that sweet face that I had been dreaming about for months and months!

One day old. Trav pulled out the camera and took some photos of the little chub.

Trav actually gave him his first bath but there are no photos since I was still out of it in recovery when that happened. Haha. Here is a pic of his second bath. He was obviously thrilled.

The day we finally got to take him home! We stayed in the hospital three days because of the c-section and we were glad to get out of there. It was nice to have help from all the nurses but mostly it was just annoying that they had to keep jabbing me in the stomach every two hours.

Proud daddy!

Little bear is ready to go home!
